The parade of athletes begins. In keeping with the history and traditions of the SIM they are led by a rider wearing blank silks on a raging black stallion.
This set of silks symbolizes all the great residencies, all the great stables, and all the great horses that are no longer with us.
We observe a minute of silence as we quietly think of those no longer with us.
They remain Champions, one and all.
| Following a slow trot around the Equinics track the silkless rider stops in front of the reviewing stand.
The shouts, and cheers, and applause builds and peaks and starts to die, then builds again.
A bugle sounds and the Residencies arrive. The Parade Of Silks begins.
