PP 1 (12/1)
MILLIE SKRILLY (SADLER'S WELLS x FORTY NINER x FOOLISH PLEASURE)
SERA - Stickman
D Thomas ( 11 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 27% )
Move to the turf turned her career around. Could be one to watch. Breeding is interesting; Forty Niner often introduces a distance limitation so this may be the outer reach of this filly.
PP 2 (7/2)
WHIRLED PEAS (NUREYEV x KRIS S. x ALLEGED)
DelPenn - Grimmie
M Day ( 73 - 19 - 16 - 7 - 26% )
Trainer Grimmie has a good one here in Whirled Peas. Beautifully bred for the turf and the 5 of 6 in the money proves it.
Was second last outing at 8 on the turf in a Grade III. Belongs in this race, and has top jockey, but is in against some tough runners.
PP 3 (23/1)
UNCHARTED WATERS (NUREYEV x RAINBOW QUEST x HIS MAJESTY)
Vermont - Mmurano
T Brewer ( 63 - 12 - 7 - 17 - 19% )
The way the story goes behind the barns and across the meadow is that this one accidently won a qualifying race she was not expected to win. Having said that, the trainer is highly skilled at placement and only puts them
where they are going to cash a cheque. The breeding is there - the jockey is there - the post position is there... This one could break through this time.
PP 4 (14/1)
DRINKING WATER (JOHNNY JONES x NORTH PROSPECT x DUBLIN TAXI(GB))
TEAM INDEPENDENT UNITY - Tullbrink3
G Harmon ( 37 - 2 - 3 - 6 - 5% )
Has been racing at shorter distances and drew a mediocre jockey. Developing very nicely and could be a factor in turf races throughout the year. Could be a wild card in this one as Johnny Jones has thrown some good ones in the SIM.
PP 5 (13/1)
DIXIETARIAT (DANZIG x DIXIELAND BAND x SECRETARIAT)
MINNESOTA - Performanc
N Tippins ( 63 - 9 - 11 - 11 - 14% )
Beautifully bred filly has yet to find her racing niche. First route effort leaves too many questions unanswered. Pass.
PP 6 (2/1)
DANCING BLADE (KINGMAMBO x CRUSADER SWORD x DANZIG)
NEXIS - Lionart
V Perryman ( 12 - 3 - 1 - 2 - 25% )
The rumour is that Perryman knocked 45 jockeys down to get this mount. And what a mount it is.
8 wins and a place from 9 starts. Breeder's Bowl winner; Fauster's Juvenile Cup winner; Movieland Starlet winner;
track record holder at 5 on the turf in Sweden; number 1 ranked 3 year old filly; Eclipse Award recipient.
Hard to find fault - so I am not even going to mention her minor negatives. She loses only if she is facing the wrong way coming out of the gate.
PP 7 (7/1)
KEPLER QUEEN(IRE) (KING OF KINGS (IRE) x KRIS S. x IN REALITY)
VIKING RACING - Marre
C Baxter ( 12 - 0 - 2 - 3 - 0% )
Shaky jockey. Good trainer. Kepler Queen has been beaten her last two in allowance company. Has flashed some late speed and may try and hook up with Dancing Blade to get a piece.
PP 8 (38/1)
IL NIKITA(GB) (MAJORIEN (GB) x NORTH PROSPECT x DUBLIN TAXI(GB))
TERRAPIN JOCKEY CLUB - Ildottore
C Shinkle ( 67 - 10 - 10 - 12 - 15% )
Broke her maiden last outing on the dirt. Never favoured but has a win and two places. She should make an impact once she moves back to the allowance ranks.
PP 9 (68/1)
NOTHIN LEICA DUANE(AUS)
QUEENSLAND - Dowelly
D Lakencher ( 3 - 1 - 0 - 0 - 33% )
Claimed fror 100,000 and then immediately broke her maiden at 8 on the turf. I would claim her if she comes up again. Should provide the early front speed for the field.
PP 10 (15/1)
PACK YOUR BAGS PYE (DEVIL'S BAG x HORATIUS x RARE BRICK)
EAST-WEST CONNECTION - Tao
W Bayless ( 11 - 2 - 0 - 2 - 18% )
This is an impressive filly, but I am starting to think that LordPye has some kind of naming the horse rule at East West. As soon as I figure it out I will pass it on.
As I was saying, an impressive filly. 2 for 2 on the dirt. Very nice running style, and appears to be adaptable. I need to see one on the turf before I tout her too much, but if she takes to the grass she could be dangerous.
PP 11 (42/1)
TRICKY GIVING(IRE) (GENEROUS(IRE) x CLEVER TRICK x DAMASCUS)
IRELAND - Spudeater
Q Cassell ( 71 - 14 - 11 - 13 - 20% )
The only maiden in the race is in against very tough company indeed. Should give some early speed for the big girls to pace off of. Common sense jockey will ease her when it looks like it's all over.
PP 12 (11/1)
DKY'S MATE (OCTAGONAL x MR. PROSPECTOR x NORTHERN DANCER)
NEW SOUTH WALES - Skunkbarn
B Hollier ( 40 - 6 - 2 - 0 - 15% )
Steady, in the money performer has a decent jockey and may try to tie herself to Dancing Blade early. Similar styles, but the distance is a bit of a concern.
PP 13 (22/1)
FAIRY LAKE(GB) (HEART LAKE (GB) x ROBELLINO x FAIRY KING)
ASR - Daninja
J Wesselman ( 40 - 8 - 5 - 5 - 20% )
Power jockey will drive the Fairy to the front and push the pace as hard as she can. She can throw a good race but has never been tested against this class of competition.
PP 14 (18/1)
HUNDRED BISCUIT (BOONE FOREST x NIJINSKY II x ROYAL SAXON)
NORTH WEST RACING CIRCUIT - Jaytrotter
G Arnold ( 69 - 9 - 7 - 11 - 13% )
Came third in a Grade II dirt sprint, so has shown the class to belong with these. Surface switch and the distance are concerns; but she has an OK jockey and the spirit. Has never finished worse then third. Beautiful claim. Trainer has not ducked.
Deserves a good hard look.
PP 15 (33/1)
INTO AN ONDY(IRE) (ACCONDY (IRE) x JACINTO x SEA HAWK II(FR))
NEBRASKA - Greeny
S Chesnut ( 21 - 1 - 4 - 1 - 5% )
Low percentage jockey; bad post; and declining form all hurt this filly. Pace may be too fast for her.
An easy race to handicap; a difficult race to bet. Dancing Blade is the class of the field.
Whirled Peas, and Dky's Mate are solid contenders. Drinking Water has an outside shot.
To all competitors: May your horses run as well as they can and come home safe. The honour they have gained by being here can not be taken away from them.
There is no disgrace in participating and doing the best they can.
Many great horses did not make it to these Equinics II - and many great horses will not make it in the future.
