Cash Asmussen

Along with Steve Cauthen, Cash is recognised as having introduced the American crouch style that is now a common feature in Europe

Family: wife Cheryl, whom he married in February 1992, daughter Catherine Marie

In 1979, Asmussen won the Eclipse Award as leading apprentice in North America.

Champion jockey in France in 1985-86, 1988-90

Captured the 1991 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and French Derby with Suave Dancer .He is the only foreign rider to win the French championship. In 1988, he was the first jockey in France to ride 200 winners in a season, but one winner was later disqualified making for a total of 199.

Cash rode nearly 3,000 winners in his career and has been Champion jockey 5 times in France. He has also won 90 Group 1's, 51 of which have been gained in France.
