Swifter, higher, stronger

But if, my heart, you wish to sing of contests, look no further for any star warmer than the sun, shining by day through the lonely sky, and let us not proclaim any contest greater than Olympia.

MIghty Zeus Marathon Preview:

The Mighty Zeus Marathon-GII-All horses 3 and up, 1 and 3/4 miles on the dirt

#1: Rusty Around Rat - Nevada - Mcjonny4 - This 3yo son of St. Jovite has run first or second in 14 of 26 races, amassing over $240k. The only 3yo in the race, Rusty has won his last two 12f races and was a good second in his last out, which was his first try against older horses in the Bricassar Stakes. Has the top local jock up in B. Langhorne and will need all of his skill to pull it off against his older rivals this week. #2: Your Pigeon - Iowa - James22 - A 4yo son of Sadler's Wells, this colt has four wins to his credit but seems better suited around one mile. In his last two 12 furlongs efforts he was beaten over 70 lenghts combined. #3: Bustfully Not Raul - Sweden - Racelord - From Vikingland comes one of the main contenders in this marathon. By Seattle Slew, Bustfully has won 13 of his 36 starts including his last 4 in a row, all at different tracks, at distances from 12 to 14 furlongs. He wont sit too far back and, should the favorite not fire, he is definitely one to fear. #4: Forty North - Vermont - Socalman - The local challenger for this event is out of prominent stallion Forty Niner. He has two wins and a place over his last three races, but those have been against lesser than he faces today, mainly starters and cpu value restricted allowances. He has eight total wins to his credit but I cant see him picking up his ninth this week. #5: B. Hillbilly - Longchamp - Roelke - Another Sadler's Wells runner(it seems all the favorites are), this 5yo mare is the only female to contest this race. She has both speed and stamina in abundance, having won 13 races in her career and around $400k. She will be out early, probably by a bunch, but I think she comes back to the field by the time the real running starts. #6: Long Bomber - New York - 5starfarms - This one will try to close from this clouds much like his father Cryptoclearance did. He seems to love it the longer he goes but will be tested in this endurance event, and I tend to not favor deep closers in races past 8-9 furlongs as it seems they get too far back to make an effective run at the end. #7: Cornholio's Flutes - California - Gipper3 - This 4yo son of Unbridled is another that will add to the early pace and has been competitive in some high level allowance affairs, but seems a little over his head in this one. #8: Cecil I. - North Carolina - Duanecrisp - A 4yo Summing colt, this horse has 11 wins from 43 starts, including a win in the Prospect North Stakes in Ontario, just north of our local oval. This is another that deserves a long look before you go to the windows. #9: Kong Hope - Nebraska - Westtexan7 - This Personal Hope offspring fits better around 10 furlongs, and against much lesser than the picks in this race. Of course, anything can happen in horseracing! #10: Private Trick - Delaware - Outsider - Ok, anything can happen except this one winning :) This 5yo horse, by Skip trial, has not been better than 4th in his last 5 races, and those were sound beatings at lower level starter allowances. Oh well, he's in here and none of mine are LOL. #11: Saddle Dedicate - Minnesota - Daics - THIS IS the one to watch folks. The marathon king, also out of Sadler's Wells, has dominated the distance races thus far in the SIM world. He has an amazing 20 wins from 26 starts, bankrolling almost two million dollars. Davarto's multiple GI winner should be as tight as new rope after a prep last week in Texas, when must must have set the riding instructions at around .90 b/c he won by less than a length. The Saddle has already show a liking for this track in the past and we should expect no less this week. 2/1 odds seem pretty generous on a horse who's owner was so confident in him, he put him up for grabs if anyone could beat him! #12: Secret Plunder - Ireland - Fredarcher - This 4yo Secreto runner has competed in claimers last two outings, winning one of those. He is a closer from well back, which is good because that's where he figures to be :)
