Euquinics diary - Friday

In Copenhagen, Denmark, thousands of people had gathered to watch the olympic flame arrive. This morning the birds had filled the skies with harmonies, and as the torch was sighted the crowd started making a noice and noone heard the birds anymore.

We were some guys from Viking Racing, we had come here to see the olympic flame get carried over the bridge between Copenhagen and Malmoe, and then on a train to Stockholm. At our side we had faithful servant of the sport of kings.

Now, as the torch reached the place where it would be turned over to one of the greatest of all, I was terrified something would go wrong. But it didn’t. The touch was to be carried over the bridge by champion jockey Kim Andersen riding the living legend, Songline. With grace they started heading over to the other side…

We followed Songline and Kim Andersen and as we reached Malmoe people cheered. It wasn’t this cheering you hear from crowds listening to polititians, no it was like entering a arena full of crazy – and a bit toxicated - soccer fans. It was a great feeling.

At Jagersro, the race track, there was a consert in honor of the olympic flame. Great bands were playing; the Cardigans, E-type (who had written a olympic flame tribute song just for this occation), Therion and Soundtrack of our Lives all played. Everybody – that was somebody - was there! The king gave a speach, and so did the prime minister, they both found this one of those rare happy occations.

The feast lasted all day, and most of the night as well. People were happy, they danced, listen to music, talked to friends and stranger, and noone had a thought about tomorrow. And the bands played on…
